Aboriginal Consultation Forum - Wagga Wagga 18 April
Date and time
Location
Mantra Pavilion Hotel
22-30 Kincaid Street Wagga Wagga, NSW 2650 AustraliaDescription
What would it take to prevent suicide in your community?
The solution to suicide does not lie just with individuals but with whole communities. Aboriginal communities, who bear a greater burden of suicide than any other, are a vital partner in finding solutions.
The Mental Health Commission of NSW is developing The Strategic Framework for Suicide Prevention in NSW which will build on current and past work at the State and Commonwealth level. We will be looking beyond mental health services to all tiers of government, Primary Health Networks, community managed organisations, and people with lived experience to drive a coordinated response.
Understanding the unique experience of Aboriginal communities and learning what is and isn’t working in suicide prevention will play an important role in getting the Framework right.
